Chapel of Panagia Chrysopolitissis

Chapel of Panagia Chrysopolitissis

Panagia Chrysopolitissis (15th century)

It is the ”Catholic” of an old monastery, built on the ruins of an older temple, perhaps of ”John the Theologist” (based on Rupert Gunnis), on the northwest of the village. Based on tradition, the owner is considered to be Saint John the Hemit ( Erimitis ). It is built in a Single Aisled Domed Basilica rhythm, stone-built and inside it is filled with fragments of hagiographies of the 16th century in the frescoed technique.
